| Profession: Wildlife and Canine Artist. I turned Professional in 1993. Publisher: Washington Green. UK. One of the largest and most successful publishing companies in the UK. Main Galleries: The Halcyon Gallery, ICC, Birmingham, UK. I began working as a commercial artist after leaving College with a B.A. (Hons) Degree in 1981. My first full time job was with a Graphics and Photographic agency in Manchester UK, this was to last for only one year as I really wanted to pursue my wildlife painting career. |

| In 1983 I became a professional Illustrator and freelance photographic
retoucher. I was taught by some of the "old guys" how to retouch photos by hand with a paintbrush and an airbrush. I was probably one of the
last "manual" retouchers of photos before computers came along and made it very easy indeed! and
I specialized in fantasy airbrush illustrations. These took the form of computer game and magazine
covers. At the same time I was studying the different painting techniques of the old masters, my favorites being Da Vinci, Titian, Rembrandt Turner and Constable. In order to discover as much as possible about their techniques I would painstakingly copy selected paintings, some of them taking as long as eight months to complete. My constant love throughout has been to paint wildlife and I take every opportunity to study and observe animals in their natural environment. In 1994 I spent some time in the company of world renowned wildlife artists John Seerey Lester and Alan Hunt, the knowledge that I gained from them at this time proved invaluable. Since then I have been exhibiting and collecting reference at many game fairs throughout the country, and this has resulted in producing my working dog series of paintings. Apart from my usual prints I am now well into producing an ongoing series of prints called "Classic Breeds", which includes most of the popular breeds of dogs (Quite a lot of work!). I joined the publishing company of Washington Green in 1995 and I deem it an honor to be associated with the great artists worldwide that they represent. Through the efforts of this company, my work is being sold in the USA with Applejack Publications. Also I produce many Collector Plates and Mugs for the Danbury Mint of MBI, Inc. Believe me, not a day goes by that I don't think how fortunate I am to be doing something that I love as a career! As an update, I am pleased to have been voted by the industry the Best New Published Artist in the UK, The Fine Art Trade Guild Award for 1998. Also, an image of my dog Milly is being used as a Christmas card for the Guide dogs for the Blind, an admirable organization.
